Dear colleagues,
I would like to welcome your thoughts and comments on a manuscript,
"Vertically propagating Kelvin waves and tropical tropopause variability".
This study shows that the background zonal wind and static stability
can modulate
vertically propagating Kelvin waves in the TTL region, and suggests that
Kelvin wave amplification over the western Pacific can be attributed to
the zonal variation of the background zonal wind field rather than to the
proximity to convective heating. This study implies that the zonal and
vertical
modulation of the Kevlin waves by the background flow may help explain the
origin of the cold trap over the western tropical Pacific.
Best wishes,
Sukyoung Lee.
