Hello,

Please find attached a paper that we have recently published in GRL:

Simpson, Hitchcock, Shepherd and Scinocca - Stratospheric variability
and tropospheric annular mode timescales, GRL, 38, L20806

This is a modelling study that demonstrates an important role for
stratospheric variability in contributing to enhanced tropospheric
annular mode persistence. It also investigates the cause of the common
model bias that Southern Annular mode anomalies are too persistent in
the summer. Results suggest that a significant proportion of this bias
is unrelated to stratospheric variability and is internal to the
troposphere.

Best wishes,
Isla
