Curriculum vitae | LinkedIn
Karin specializes in observational solar physics focusing on solar energetic phenomena such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). Her research centers on understanding the initiation and early propagation phase of CMEs, the dynamics and heating in the solar atmosphere prior to flares, and on establishing coronal dimmings as indirect observational signatures of solar and stellar CMEs.
Karin's Outreach and Activities
Interactive Science Exploration Toolset
HELIO-ISET explores the role of the Sun in Earth’s current climate dynamics. It interactively educates on topics such as graph reading skills, understanding of the measured values, confidence intervals, trends vs. comparing data points and correlation vs. causation. One highlight is the “universe generator” tool to explore the concept of uncertainty.
