 | NWRA Scientists Associated with Nobel Peace Prize The 2007 Nobel Peace Prize was shared between the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and former US Vice President Al Gore, Jr. for their efforts to build and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change. Two NWRA scientists were associated with the 2007 IPCC report. Philip Mote (primary affiliation University of Washington) was a lead author of chapter 4 and contributed to two other chapters. | Scientists Jeffrey Weiss, Joe Werne of the Boulder office of NorthWest Research Associates, and Keith Julien won a grant of 1.25 million supercomputer hours, worth $6 million, to model key parts of the ocean conveyor belt whose warm waters prevent much of Europe from suffering the climate of northern Canada.
