Visitor: NWRA Welcomes Hamid Pahlavan, to the Boulder Office

Hamid is a postdoc & Junior Fellow Rice Academy, Rice University. He is a recent graduate of UW Atmospheric Sciences and will be jointly advised by Joan Alexander and Prof. Pedram Hassanzedeh of Rice University. Hamid’s Ph.D. thesis focused on tropical stratospheric circulation & waves and their representation in global data from the ECMWF (European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecasting). His postdoc work at NWRA is on a collaborative project with Rice colleagues, focusing on development of machine learning based methods of parameterization of gravity wave drag for climate models.

Visitor: NWRA Welcomes Dr. Gerardo Hernandez Duenas to the Seattle Office
April 2022
Dr. Gerardo Hernandez Duenas is a Professor at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Instituto de Matematicas. He will be working with Jeffrey Early, Pascale Lelong, and Cim Wortham during his sabbatical. Gerardo is an expert in the formulation of ocean wave vortex models & is working on additional realism in the form of more general boundary conditions. Gerardo is accompanied by his wife and children.
