Joint workshops of S-RIP (SPARC Reanalysis Intercomparison Project) and SPARC-DA (SPARC Data Assimilation) were held in Victoria, BC, Canada this past October. Both S-RIP and SPARC-DA are SPARC (Stratosphere-Troposphere Processes and Their Role in Climate) projects. Gloria is a co-lead of S-RIP and NWRA was a co-sponsor of this 2016 Joint Workshop. Sponsors, along with NWRA, included Environ & Climate Change Canada, University of Oxford, NERC, Royal Belgian Inst for Space Aeronomy, WCRP. Thanks for your leadership, Gloria! |
NWRA Welcomes Yefim Kogan as an NWRA Senior Research Scientist
October 2016
|
Yefim received his MS in theoretical physics from the Moscow State University and his Ph.D. in 1980 in Atmospheric Science from the Central Aerological Observatory in Moscow. He joined the University of Oklahoma School of Meteorology in 1988. His research has been on topics concerning microphysical processes and precipitation development in strato-cumulus and convective-cumulus clouds, based on a unique LES model that include explicit spectral microphysics formulation. While working at NWRA, Yefim expects his research to focus on parameterization of microphysics in convective clouds, specifically parameterization of sub-grid condensation processes for mesoscale prediction models. Welcome Yefim! |
