NWRA Welcomes Magdalena Carranza, Research Scientist, Monterey Office
September 2024
Magdalena joined NWRA in early August to begin writing proposals through us. She will join NWRA as a full-time employee in mid 2025. Magdalena is a physical oceanographer and graduate of Scripps Oceanography with postdoctoral experience at NCAR and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI). Her research interests lie in the intersection of the atmosphere, oceans and biosphere. She investigates the role that atmospheric forcing plays in changing upper ocean physics and its impacts on phytoplankton bloom development, as well as impacts of synergistic effects between atmosphere and ocean weather dynamics. Her research specifically includes the effects on upper ocean turbulence inferred from Argo floats ascent rate variability. Please welcome Magdalena! |
