Since then two additional balloons have completed the circuit, and three more balloons are close behind.  STRATEOLE-2 is a French-US collaboration to make measurements of waves, clouds, turbulence, composition, and general circulation.  Eight balloons were launched from the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean during Nov-Dec 2019.  NWRA scientists Joan Alexander and Martina Bramberger are funded by the National Science Foundation to conduct analyses of these innovative measurements aiming to improve global weather forecasts and climate prediction models. Ryan is CU Boulder Undergraduate physics student in his senior year. He will work with Andreas Muschinski on various projects addressing problems in optical propagation through atmospheric turbulence.
