NWRA Welcomes Sara Petty, Research Scientist

Sara Petty joined NWRA in August. She is working with Graham Barnes and KD Leka on the forecasting of solar indices, including sunspot number and F10.7 radio emission, from a photospheric flux transport model. She will also be working on the classification and forecasting of solar flares, particularly their EUV emission. Sara is a trained Astrophysicist with expertise in galaxy evolution, including investigations using the Hubble Space Telescope.

NWRA Welcomes Chris Kruse, Research Scientist

Chris joined NWRA in early July and is working with Joan Alexander, Martina Bramberger and Alison Grimsdell in the Boulder Office on their NSF project, “Developing machine-learning-based parameterizations of gravity wave drag for climate models.” Chris is an Atmospheric Scientist with experience in high-resolution regional modeling, airborne measurement analyses, and climate modeling with foci on middle atmosphere gravity waves and boundary layer momentum fluxes.
